Turtle Yaunati 2026 2oz Silver Antiqued Coloured Coin
Turtles hold deep significance in many Indigenous Australian cultures. For Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, turtles are powerful totems linked to creation, wisdom, longevity and connection to land and sea. This coin was created in collaboration with award-winning Indigenous designer Chern'ee Sutton.
The coloured reverse depicts several turtles surrounded by elements that symbolise their journey through time, water and connection to Country. The circles represent water holes and the ocean, while the trail of turtles refers to the ocean currents followed during migration. The jellyfish represent their primary food source, and the dotted circles embody generations of turtles and the cycle of life. A trail of eggs in the sand marks the turtle's return to its place of birth. The design includes the 2026 year-date and The Perth Mint's 'P' mintmark. The coin is presented in a display case with a numbered certificate of authenticity. The obverse carries the Dan Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles III. Each coin is individually antiqued, which gives it a unique finish — as a result, the appearance of each coin in the mintage may vary.
